First Housing Corporation was formed in 1978 by its principals in an effort to provide property management services to a portfolio of properties being developed by F & S Development. Since then, First Housing Corporation has grown to its present size with 180 employees on 31 developments across the State of Michigan. These developments encompass a broad range of funding and financing types, including, but not limited to, MSHDA-80/20 and Section 8; HUD-221(d)4 and Section 236; and, conventional. Clients include profit-motivated owner/developers, nonprofit groups, and agencies such as the Michigan State Housing Development Authority and Federal Savings and Loan Insurance Corporation. Over the years, First Housing Corporation has successfully marketed seventeen new developments, both subsidized and conventional. The First Housing Staff has produced Marketing Feasibility Studies for several new developments and effectively remarketed turnaround developments. First Housing Corporation has developed and sold computer software programs for management of subsidized residential property, both for financial reporting by management companies and for onsite resident eligibility.

Our operational staff has been built with time and consideration to fundamental growth through retention of high quality people. We pride ourselves on being able to train and encourage employees to become the best they can be.

During recent years, First Housing has become a leader in the State of Michigan in evaluating and implementing the HUD 504 Handicapped Compliance regulations as part of the American Disabilities Act. Upon recommendation from MSHDA, we were contracted as a consultant to other property management companies. In all, we have prepared 504 Compliance/Transition Plans for over eighty apartment developments.
